Social Media Branding

Publication Design

District Attorneys are the most powerful local elected officials in our justice system, and Los Angeles County is home to “the nation’s largest local prosecutorial agency by far.

CHALLENGE

DAAC felt limited by its current logo and color palette, so they reached out to me to expand on their current branding to make a more bold and inviting design for their Instagram.

OUTCOME

Created a design system with a color palette to match the wide range of campaigns and events DAAC posts. Developed all of the graphic elements in Figma, so future volunteers can easily carry on the brand system.

The Problem

The previous designer had left the DAAC with this logo, color palette, and illustration but they were unsure how to expand these elements into a more comprehensive brand.

With the 2020 elections coming up fast, they didn’t have much time to invest in new branding, so they asked me to use the elements they already had to engage with a younger, Gen Z audience who may be voting for the first time.

During the initial meeting, they showed me the colors they were currently using throughout their social media posts and expressed frustration and feeling limited to the current range of colors.

Brightening up the color palette

They were already using the illustration Ashley Lukashevsky made for their website as the inspiration for their color palette. However, they had limited themselves to the duller shades felt stuck and uninspired.

Working alongside the DAAC’s social media manager, we expanded on the existing colors to give a bolder and more fun look to draw younger users in.
